On November 27th, 2017, three years after the beginning of the Sound of Vision project, we have the honor of hosting a major dissemination event in Romania. The event will take place at the University Politehnica of Bucharest, Palace Hall, between 14:00-17:00.
Sound of Vision is a comprehensive research project involving partners from Romania, Iceland, Italy, Hungary and Poland. The project proposes the design, implementation as well as the validation of an innovative, non-invasive assistive device designed for blind or visually impaired people. The system uses cameras and advanced algorithms in order to recognize shapes and objects with the purpose of representing the environment using sounds and tactile feedback that is updated continuously in real time. We believe that the system may have impressive social impact, improving the lifestyle of people with visual impairment and suppressing dependence in carrying out daily activities. The project is funded through the Horizon 2020 program, as an advanced research project based on a consortium of public and private institutions.
This event will be honored by the presence of the Rector of the Polytechnic University of Bucharest, Prof. Mihnea COSTOIU, the CEO Of the National Health Insurance House Razvan VULCANESCU, the CEO of the National Authority for Persons with Disabilities Adrian CHIOTAN, the CEO of the Association of the Blind Tudorel TUPILUS, the CEO of EyeLight Irina PAUN, CEO of EyeLight Silvia PAUN, as well as members of the civil society and researchers from the project.
