Analysis and specification of system requirements
- Assessment of a set of general requirements for the system which are to be understood and agreed upon by all partners (success indicator: user requirements document (URD) well understood and assumed by all partners)
- Assessment of the research equipment to be acquired in order to experiment the technical alternatives for system implementation (success indicator: equipment that meets the experimental necessities in accordance to the economic constraints)
- Design of the general system architecture (success indicator: architectural design document (ADD) accepted by all partners;
- Related dissemination – workshop, scientific papers (success indicator: successful submission of the written articles, to relevant journals or conferences; participation of all team members from all partners to the internal start-up workshop, website launched and updated with all relevant information, website promoted to relevant audience).
WP2 (University of Iceland, M06-M13)
Experiments with technical alternatives and selection of optimal solutions
- Analysis of the technical alternatives for implementation and comparison of their advantages and limitations
- Experiments with the selected equipment.
- Design and implementation of optimum algorithms for the generation of a 3D model of the environment and for rendering the model using spatial sound signals (success indicator: satisfactory theoretical solutions to the technological and conceptual challenges; validation of the theoretical solutions by experiments)
- Detailed design and exploratory prototyping of the serious game (“Training” mode of the device)
- Design and implement a solution for prototyping special headphones for a better 3D sound reception (success indicator: satisfactory solutions that offer accurate localization of 3D sounds).
- Determine and validate the best solutions for the detailed system architecture; detailed description of the system architecture in the Detailed Design Document (DDD) (success indicator: DDD well understood and assumed by all partners)
- Dissemination of concepts and results – papers, workshop, website (success indicator: successful submission of the written articles, to relevant journals or conferences; participation of all team members from all partners to the internal workshop, website updated with all relevant results and promoted to relevant audience).
WP3 (University Politehnica of Bucharest, M14-M21)
Development and testing of the initial prototype
- Development of a first working prototype of the system by integrating the optimal solutions obtained in the previous phase of the project (success indicator: development of the initial working prototype within the timeframe)
- Technical acquaintance of all partner teams with the developed prototype in order to prepare the following project phases of experimentation and improvement (success indicator: prototype accepted and considered as satisfactory by all partners)
- Testing the initial prototype and acquiring feedback from visually impaired people and from specialists in their rehabilitation (success indicators: testing identifies any discrepancies of the initial prototype related to URD; testing provides relevant information for refining the technical and conceptual solutions; tests are performed within safety frames; collecting relevant data)
- Testing the initial prototype with BCI technology in order to validate and improve the system (success indicators: testing provides relevant information for refining the prototype; collecting relevant data)
- Detailed designing, exploratory prototyping and testing for the additional functional modules (success indicator: identifying any discrepancies of the initial prototype related to URD through intensive testing; providing relevant information for refining the technical and conceptual solutions; performing tests within safety frames; collecting relevant data)
- Dissemination of concepts and results – scientific papers, workshop/invited session, website (success indicators: large audience and interest at the open workshop/invited session, establishing relevant links and synergies; website updated with all relevant results and promoted to relevant audience; successful submission of the written articles, to relevant journals or conferences).
WP4 (University Politehnica of Bucharest, M22-M29)
Development of the advanced prototype and of the user training program
- Improvement of the initial prototype using the feedback acquired from the medical partner, from the specialists in brain dynamic analysis, from the visually impaired people and from the specialists in training them (success indicators: satisfactory solutions for the technological and conceptual challenges; validation of the solutions by experiment; development of the advanced prototype within the timeframe)
- Development and integration of the software modules for the additional functionalities (success indicators: satisfactory solutions to the technological and conceptual challenges; experimental validation of the solutions; integration in the advanced prototype within the timeframe)
- Test the advanced prototype (success indicators: testing identifies any discrepancies of the advanced prototype related to URD; testing provides relevant information for refining the technical and conceptual solutions; tests are performed within safety frames; collecting relevant data)
- Development of a user training protocol (success indicators: the training protocol allows the users to exploit the system to its full extent.
- Dissemination of concepts and results – patent, workshop, scientific papers, website (success indicators: patent application in compliance with the formalities and requirements; participation of all project members to the workshop; successful submission of the written articles, to relevant journals or conferences; website updated with all relevant results and promoted to relevant audience).
WP5 (Lodz University of Technology, M30-M36)
Development of the final version of the system
- Develop and validate the final version of the portable system to assist the visually impaired people (success indicators: inclusion of all the relevant functionality from the previous prototypes in the final package; easy configurability in the typical setups; ease of use, reliability, safety; cost affordability in most EU countries; good documentation; subsequent use will lead to improvement of users lifestyle);
- Prepare the exploitation and the technological transfer of the final product of Sound Of Vision;
- Dissemination of concepts and results – workshop, scientific papers, website (success indicators: significant audience and interest at the open workshop; participation of representatives from key organizations and authorized institutions concerning national health and rehabilitation of persons with disabilities; website updated with all relevant results and promoted to relevant audience; successful submission of the written articles, to relevant journals or conferences).
WP6 (University of Iceland, M01-M36)
Management
- Coordination of the communication, collaboration and coordination between partners, planning and coordination of the project activities.
- Permanently pro-actively monitor the identified risks.
- Apply adequate correction actions in the case of work plan deflection, by establishing and evaluating the adequate quality standards application.
- Permanently perform all the required activities for keeping the project running within time and budgetary constraints;
- Produce and deliver all the required documentation and artefacts to relevant reporting authorities.
